Petra is famous for its rock cut architecture and water conduits system established around the 6th century B.C. as the capital city of the Nabataeans. Petra, the world wonder, is without a doubt Jordan’s most worthy place to visit and the greatest tourist attraction. It is a vast, unique city, carved into the sheer rock face by the Nabataeans. You will be picked up in the early morning (exact details will be confirmed locally) then you will be transferred by an A/C van to Sharm El Sheikh Airport which is far from Sharm Hotels about 20 Km. Then fly to Aqaba in Jordon. You will then drive again to Petra for about 2 hours. Entering to the city will be through the Siq on foot. Siq is a narrow gorge, over 1 km in length, which is flanked on either side by soaring, 80 m high cliffs. Just walking through the Siq is an experience in itself. The colours and formations of the rocks are dazzling. As you reach the end of the Siq you will catch your first glimpse of Al-Khazneh (Treasury) carved out of the side of the sandstone mountain face probably in the first century B.C. Note: it is not permitted for the vehicles to enter the site. After the visit of Al-Khazneh (Treasury) you will visit the Roman Theatre which dates back to the Byzantine era then you will see the Royal Tombs. You will have lunch in a local restaurant in the city center. In the second part of your trip you will continue your tour to the Hill of Al-Habis Fort which dates back to Crusaders times, for a breathtaking panoramic view of deep gullies and uniquely colored rock formations. At the end of the day you will drive back to Aqaba Airport then fly to Sharm El Sheikh Airpot where you will get the bus back to Sharm El Sheikh Hotels.
